Getting around in Munich

Arrival to the 3E Conference

The conference venue is at Campus Lothstraße, the conference building is the R-Building, the so-called Red Cube at Lothstraße 35, 80335 Munich. See also map.

The venue is easy to reach by public transportation. For example, from Munich central station, you can reach the university campuses in about 8 minutes with the following connections:

Tram lines 20 (Moosach Bf.), 21 (Westfriedhof) or 29 (Hochschule München) to the stop “Hochschule München (Lothstraße)”.

Move around?

There are many options for getting around in Munich besides public transport

You can rent a bicycle at Deutsche Bahn (www.callabike.de) or rent a MVG Rad or a TIER E-Scooter via app MVG GO.

Urban public transport

Munich’s public transportation system offers a wide range of options for getting from A to B in Munich, including bus, tram, subway and metro. But it also has a complicated system of zones. If you are only in the center of Munich, zone M is sufficient, the airport is in zone 5.

You can buy one-way tickets, season tickets, day tickets and weekly tickets (note that there are also weekly tickets that are only valid from 9 a.m.). We highly recommend that you visit the Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft website or download the MVG GO app and create an account. You’ll be able to save all your payment details, you won’t have to find a ticket machine and you won’t have to worry about transport when you buy a weekly ticket. Munich’s public transport system really does make you a systemic thinker.
